Stillness that permits motionKeeping Still
The ability to stop is itself a form of movement.
Gen is the mountain — still, yet also in motion: clouds travel, birds fly, water runs; the mountain never stirs. Its stopping is not rigidity but letting what should halt halt and what should move move. Those who go far all know where to stop: rest the body, still the thought, pause the relationship. Not moving where one must not — that is Gen's great wisdom.
The lines stop from toes to calves upward; hardest is stilling the hips — cut at the waist, upper and lower split, the heart still burning. Stopping mid-body is the most uncomfortable and the most decisive. One who can hold still there has gained true fixity.
